Find your way around any Portuguese supermarket

  • Navigate every aisle. Ask for the "corredor" and "secção" you need, weigh your "produtos frescos" on the "balança," and fill your "carrinho de compras."

  • Know the fresh counters. Tell a "garoupa" from a "pescada" or "bacalhau" at the fish counter, and order "carne de vaca," "frango," and "carne de porco" at the deli ("charcutaria").

  • Pay without getting stuck. Handle the "caixa," choose "multibanco" or "dinheiro," ask for your "troco," and know when they want your "número de contribuinte."

  • Spaced repetition that works. A built-in trainer brings each of the 56 words back at exactly the right moment until it's locked into long-term memory.

TESTIMONIALS

From people who tried other things first.

  • I knew my self-taught Brazilian Portuguese might not be so well understood for my trip to the Azores. I wanted the real language of European Portuguese, not just that of limited Brazilian CD courses. It's like Carla and Marlon are in the room with you. There's no pressure, or fear of getting things wrong, just gentle encouragement.
  • I'm the type who gets bored and loses focus very quickly. I moved to Portugal recently and have been really struggling getting my head around the language. I finally came across Portuguese With Carla and decided to give it a try. In just two weeks I'm starting to understand when I hear others speak Portuguese.
