2024 at Portuguese With Carla: A Year in Review
As 2024 concludes, we celebrate an incredible year of language and learning. At Portuguese with Carla, we kept looking for ways to transform how students engage with Portuguese worldwide. Throughout the year, we introduced innovative teaching methods to support your path to fluency.
We also witnessed remarkable personal growth and meaningful connections across continents. As a result, our platform became a vibrant hub for Portuguese language enthusiasts. Learners from diverse backgrounds united through their shared linguistic passion.
Now that we are on our way toward a new and exciting year, we want to share our highlights with you.
Reflecting on 2024
During the past year, we have strived to improve your Portuguese language journey. Our innovative approach includes breaking down linguistic barriers and celebrating cultural understanding. Our community now boasts hundreds of learners from all backgrounds and levels.

The Portuguese With Carla Community
The Portuguese with Carla community experienced incredible growth throughout 2024. Students from all over the world joined our dynamic learning platform. Right now, we count hundreds of European Portuguese learners. Through The Journey, they are enjoying the benefits of having fun while acquiring their new language.
We have also had interactive digital classrooms connecting individuals across different continents and time zones. Our Live Practice Portuguese Sessions were crucial elements to connect you to us and fellow learners.
But our community grew outside the course as well. For example, our YouTube channel now counts nearly 50K followers. Even more so, our videos reached almost half a million views. For all this and more, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your loving support.
Still, the community grew not just in numbers but, more importantly, in depth and engagement. It was beautiful to see learners develop deep connections through shared learning challenges and triumphs. We also loved answering your appreciative, witty, and constructive comments.
As a result, many reported significant improvements in their language skills and cultural understanding. Thus, once again, we thank you for helping us create a safe and even more inclusive learning environment.

As you know, we have launched a new resource. It is a unique free tool for all students with a yearly subscription to The Journey. Plus, it includes a user-friendly interface with on-screen word lookup.
This tool helps learners improve their writing, reading, and conversational skills effortlessly. With one simple click, your language learning can become more interactive and accessible.
You can use your new assistant in three easy steps:
- After opening the AI Chat Coach, choose your preferred feedback language. You can pick English, which is usually the best option for beginning learners. However, Portuguese is the way to go if you are an intermediate or advanced student.
- Then, click on Start a new conversation to open the chat.
- All you have to do now is start texting. You can write about whatever topic you feel like discussing. After sending your first message, you will get immediate feedback tailored to your needs and preferences.

The one thing that warms our hearts the most is receiving your positive and constructive feedback. Because of you, we continue growing and improving toward delivering the best possible learning experience. We are the happiest when receiving positive comments about our course. After all, that is our goal. We do not want to simply teach you the language. Instead, we want to give you the tools you need to integrate into the Portuguese-speaking world. We want to guide you toward making Portuguese your own language and feeling truly at ease with it.

We also partnered with a new firm to accelerate site improvements. Together, we are developing new tools and features. Several exciting projects are already underway for the coming year. So what is in store for next year?
Goals and Aspirations For 2025
You know us. We are always looking for opportunities to transform your learning experience for the better. Thus, we have already set a few improvements for 2025. Our team is working hard to develop additional features to elevate your experience with us.
Although we do not want to let all the surprises out now, you can expect your journey to get even more personalized and engaging. With new tools, updated visuals, and enhanced interactive features, your Portuguese adventure is bound to get better.
Our presence in social media is another aspect we will work on. With a refreshingly new vlog project, we will take you to visit the different Portuguese regions. You will learn about the local landscapes, traditions, accents, and, most importantly, incredible foods. Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you do not miss a single episode!
This year also brought big changes with Memrise’s decision to shift focus. Their changes will soon affect the vocabulary packs we use alongside The Journey. But instead of simply reacting, we saw an opportunity to innovate.
We started building a custom tool tailored for European Portuguese and our students. This new tool will allow vocabulary practice without leaving the course or paying extra. It is designed to enhance learning and match the course perfectly. You can expect to hear more about it and try it in 2025!
