European Vs. Brazilian Portuguese

As you already know, there are many differences between Brazilian and European Portuguese. Grammar is one of the areas in which you will find the most contrast between these variants. Brazilian Portuguese often prefers applying the gerund. Conversely, European Portuguese opts for conjugations that pair an auxiliary with the main action verb in the infinitive. In Brazilian Portuguese, it is also common to use the pronoun Você, which is not so common in Portuguese.

For example, consider the following question: Could you please give me an opinion on this person? In Brazilian Portuguese, you would say: Você poderia me dar uma opinião sobre essa pessoa, por favor? But in European Portuguese, it would be: Poderias dar-me uma opinião sobre esta pessoa, por favor?

These are two different translations to express the same idea. Because of these differences, we advise you to choose one variant and stick to it.
